Principal's Message

Dear Chemawa Community~

Please allow me to welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year!  My staff and I anticipate a successful, enriching, and fun school year.  I look forward to working and collaborating with our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and community to provide a quality educational experience for ALL of our students.

By way of introduction, my name is Raúl Ayala and I’m honored to serve the Arlington Community as Chemawa’s principal.  I have dedicated the past twenty-two (22) years of my life to RUSD, sixteen (16) of those years as an administrator at both the elementary and middle school level.  I have had the honor of serving the Chemawa community for the past five (5) years and feel blessed to share in the successes of those I serve.  It is our vision that education transforms lives, so that  all students experience success with the collective support of our teachers and parents.  Parents are leaders; we want to empower our parent community, so that our students experience success.

Adolescence coupled with middle school often triggers mixed feelings, such as excitement and anxiousness.  We recognize the incredible responsibility we undertake each year to ensure our students experience growth and success.  Hence, it is critical that we provide a challenging and engaging educational experience in a safe and caring environment.  I need to thank you in advance for entrusting us with your children.  We are honored and committed to partnering with our families as we embark on an exciting and rewarding middle school journey.

I am excited and look forward to meeting many of you this upcoming school year.  Please know that I am here to serve our community.  I have an open-door policy, so I encourage you to stop by and see me with any questions, concerns, and feedback you may have to help us better serve you.

Raul Ayala
